In 2021 we raised a total of $38.5m, which is 65% higher than the total amount raised in 2020. This growth is in line with the growth of our investor base, as well as being driven by our existing investor base investing more capital. Online investment via platforms has also continued to grow across the board.

Over the years we have had the pleasure of working with businesses across a wide range of industries. This year there has been a concentration of capital raised for businesses in software and consumer products as well as various funds that we’ve raised capital for.

We have always raised a solid level of private capital for businesses that have a preference to restrict their capital raise to a particular investor audience. Although private capital raised in 2021 was in line with recent years, it represented a small percentage of the overall capital raised due to a strong year of public capital raises.

As our investor base grows and more capital comes from new and existing investors we are observing a trend where there are a growing number of larger investments ($500k+) as well as a large increase in $50-100k sized investments in 2021. This reflects not only continued growth in our wholesale investor base, but also strong investment flows coming from retail investors. This is a pleasing trend to have strong lead investment in place alongside smaller wholesale and retail investments.
